You are expecting or just had a baby. Now what? Where do I go from here?
Very few things are as transformative as preparing for and experiencing pregnancy, parenthood or both.
It's requiring aspects of ourselves that we didn’t even realize we possessed, pushing us to grow in ways we may not have been prepared for or expected.
So often we feel overwhelmed, inadequate, pressured and like what we do is never enough. It can be a lonely and disheartening experience, but you don’t have to do it alone.
Whether you are a birth parent, adopted parent, bonus parent or caregiver of any kind, your feelings are valid and giving yourself space to share and problem solve can be a transformative and healing process.
Here are the answers to the most commonly asked questions.
I am an out-of-network provider which means that you may be able to receive partial reimbursement depending on your plan and benefits. I offer monthly super bills for you to submit for insurance reimbursement.
On January 1, 2022, congress enacted a "No Surprises Act", which is a "new federal protection against surprise medical bills that take effect in 2022. Surprise medical bills arise when insured consumers inadvertently receive care from out-of-network hospitals, doctors, or other providers they did not choose". Under the law, healthcare providers, including mental health providers, must give clients who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for services.
Insurance requires a diagnosis (we do not believe in clients needing a diagnosis unless requested) and can impact life insurance policies, etc.
Insurance can limit how many sessions you can have with your therapist.
Insurance can dictate when and where sessions take place, and conditions (phone, video, etc).
Do I have a deductible to reach prior to my out-of-network benefits taking effect? If so, what is my out-of-network deductible?
Do I need approval from my primary care provider prior to setting an appointment with the therapist of my choosing in order to get reimbursed for services?
Once my deductible is met from out-of-network services, what percentage of the therapist’s session fee is covered by my plan?
Can you send me, or direct me to the link online, where I can obtain the form necessary to submit for reimbursement for my out-of-network services?
The journey of becoming a parent is a significant developmental life-stage.
It can evoke powerful emotions, changes in relationships, and questions about oneself.
It is an all-encompassing experience that is filled with incredible joys, but also baffling contradictions and challenges.
I guide and support clients who are open to exploring their values and what can motivate healthy change and/or simply learn to sit with emotion and engage with it differently.
When appropriate, I may integrate humor, creative metaphors when skill building, and compassionate framing around discussed challenges. The past is viewed with empathy and understanding to better live in the present.
I have specialized training in Dr. Kristin Neff's Mindful Self Compassion Institute, which serves as an important foundation as I build a safe, caring, and workable therapeutic relationship with you.
This mindful self-compassion orientation is complemented by active/creative skill-building techniques and healthy management of emotions in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
